Baptism

ChristeningIf you live in the Pittington area, you are very welcome to bring your child, or children, to St.Laurence to be baptised. Baptisms usually take place in the main Sunday morning service at 9.30am, and there is no charge for this service.

Baptism (which means the same thing as Christening) is the beginning of membership of the Christian Church. For this reason, we encourage you to first come to a Sunday morning service, and attend a Baptism Preparation evening. At these evenings we will explore what baptism means, explain the promises you will be asked to make, and explain how the church can help in bringing your child up in the Christian faith. Please contact the vicar, or have a word after the service when you visit us, if you would like to come along to the next one.

Adults and teenagers who come to faith are usually baptised at a confirmation service when the Bishop is visiting.

Please contact the vicar if you are interested in baptism for yourself, or would like to know more about the Christian faith.
